Five Mountains Hawaii is working to build healthy island communities that reflect this dynamic place we call home. We accomplish this by collaborating with others to clarify community priorities and goals, as well as to identify resources. We believe that community dialog and collaboration are essential to realize the vision of a healthy, sustainable community.

Five Mountains Hawaii, working closely with a broad range of partners, convenes community meetings, listens to set priorities and to identify strategies for improvement. Building on the strengths of the community, we provide ongoing technical support, consultation, data and information, networking and encouragement to community groups who come to us for help. We fortify connections with other community based organizations via ongoing networking and assessment.

Community Priorities - The community identified six priority issues which are essential to improving our quality of life and community health. These are:

  • Increase educational attainment
  • Increase the number of qualified job applicants
  • Increase constructive youth activities
  • Decrease child abuse and domestic violence
  • Decrease teen pregnancy
  • Increase healthy lifestyle awareness

Five Mountains Hawaii will continue to work with the community to identify changing priorities and strategies for improving community health.
